Derby są Dzikie!

The Derby is Wild!

Dziki Warsaw won the derby match against Polonia Warsaw 76-58. After seven rounds of Suzuki 1st Men's League, "Wataha" is in third place in the table with a balance of 6-1.

The beginning of the match was very even. The Wildcats drew conclusions from the match in Opole and were gradually scoring points. Polonia players were also effective, hitting from behind the arc. Only in the second quarter did the hosts start to increase their lead. The effectiveness of the Wildcats under the basket was impressive. This was mainly due to Mateusz Bartosz, who was in great shape that evening. The 35-year-old did not give his opponents any respite under the basket. He scored points in 1v1 actions and collected every ball. By half-time, the Wildcats were leading 36-27.

The third quarter was certainly the best this season. "Wataha" ruthlessly exploited the guests' mistakes. Good shots from half-distance and great defense allowed them to win this part of the game 27 to 5. Krzysztof Szablowski's basketball team led by over thirty points at one point. All thanks to the high, 67%, effectiveness from the game.

The last part of the match was a bit calmer for the Dziki. Our team had a certain lead, so they didn't have to impose a greater pace. Coach Szablowski made a lot of changes, and the team, instead of a tough defense, focused on calmly maintaining the lead.

Polonia found their rhythm in this quarter. Especially Patryk Pełka , who scored four times from behind the arc. However, it was not enough to make up for such a huge loss, which the guests had at the end of the third quarter. Alan Czujkowski stood out in Dziki. Effective actions of our winger allowed to maintain calmness in moments when Polonia was making up for the losses. Ultimately, the last quarter ended with the result 13-26, and Dziki won the entire match 76-58 .

For Dziki, this was the first Warsaw derby in the history of their appearances on first-league courts. The fact of victory delighted the fans of "Wataha" immensely, who left Hala Koło singing: This is a derby and we won it!
