Dziki górą we Wrocławiu

Wild on top in Wrocław

In the second round of the Suzuki 1. Men's League, Dziki Warszawa faced WKK Wrocław. The trip to Wrocław turned out to be a success, as Krzysztof Szablowski's players triumphed over the hosts 75-73.

It started off really well. The Wildcats played hard in defense and effectively in attack. Michał Aleksandrowicz stood out, Mateusz Bartosz was active on the boards. Grzegorz Grochowski's accurate three-pointer a dozen or so seconds before the end of the first quarter allowed the Wildcats to build a seven-point advantage.

The Warsaw team's game looked really promising, but there were still too many mistakes. Wataha was unable to dominate their rivals and gain a bigger point advantage. All because of the large number of defensive fouls, which resulted in free throws for WKK. It seemed that the hosts were close to equalizing, but "Panda" appeared just behind the arc, and showed off a spectacular "three-pointer" just before the break. The first half ended with Dziki leading 39-34 .

A moment after the break, it seemed that the Wild Ones had caught their rhythm and would easily pull away from their rivals. Unfortunately, with such a strong team as WKK Wrocław undoubtedly is, you have to play until the end. A 10-point lead instantly turned into a 52-52 tie. Both teams were aware that the last quarter would be extremely difficult and the winner would be the one who made the fewest mistakes.

The last part of Saturday's match was a spectacle for people with nerves of steel. Dziki built up an advantage again, leading by 9 points. When it seemed that Krzysztof Szablowski's team would gradually increase the advantage, Jakub Koelner and Maksymilian Wilczek, who were in great shape that evening, entered the game. Both of them hit a total of 5 "three-pointers" in the last quarter.

The victory of the Dziki was decided by the phenomenal performance of the team captain, "Groszek" . The Warsaw team's point guard forced the opponent's player to commit an unsportsmanlike offense and used free throws without any scruples. A moment later, on the next free throws, he deliberately missed the second attempt, to leave WKK without a chance to resume the action and score points.

Ultimately, Dziki Warszawa defeated WKK Wrocław 75-73 , winning the final set 23-21.
